CAHILL-DAVID LUIZ CAN HELP CHRITENSEN



Chelsea captain Gary James Cahill is convinced that David Luiz Moreira Marinho can help Andreas Christensen to develop to a mature defender.

Conte dropped David after suffering a  3-0 defeat at the  Stadio Olimpico and Denmark defender Christensen replaced him for the 1-0 win over Manchester City and kept his place for last Saturday's 4-0 victory at West Brom.

Last Wednesday night's 4-0 win over Qarabag, saw David Luis returning back to starting 11which secured Chelsea's place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
According to Cahill, Luis performance against Qarabag was splendid and believes its time David Luis can contribute to the young Danish progress.

  "David came back in and performed well," Cahill said. "Andreas is a younger version of him if you like. I feel like David can offer Andreas a lot of help in his progression. He has been there and done it at the top, top level, he has won many trophies".

"David is a very experienced defender and Andreas' attributes are very similar. I feel that he (Luiz) can advise him tremendously and he has done up until now."

The result in Baku means Chelsea have qualified for the knockout stage ahead of December's final group match against Atletico Madrid and Cahill believes Chelsea can take advantage of the situation.

LJAJIC OUT FOR THE YEAR

Torino midfielder Adem Ljajic’s has suffered a thigh injury that will rule him out for the rest of 2017. The Serbian international came on for Mirko Valdifiori at half-time in the loss to Napoli, but picked up a muscular injury. Today the Granata have confirmed that Ljajic missed today’s training session with the rest of his team mates, with scans revealing “a strain to the right biceps femoris muscle”. Ljajic will be out of tomorrow’s Coppa Italia match with Roma. While further scans are planned for the coming days, Sky reports that the creative midfielder is likely to miss the games with Spal and Genoa, making his return in the new year.
