SEVILLA CONFIRM BERIZZO HAS PROSTATE CANCER

Sevilla have confirmed reports that Coach Eduardo Berizzo has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will be undergoing treatment.

Sevillainfo.es broke the story during Sevilla’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday, and Marca claimed the club refused to deny it.
“The medical services of Sevilla FC report that the Coach of the first team, Eduardo Berizzo , has been diagnosed with an adenocarcinoma of the prostate,” read a Sevilla statement.

“The future examinations will lead to decision regarding which are the steps to follow regarding their treatment.

“Sevilla FC wants to show their full support for our Coach right now and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

According to reports, the information was broken to the players at the half time break during the encounter, at which point Los Rojiblancos were trailing 3-0 before bouncing back to draw 3-3 in a stirring comeback.

Sevilla’s players were also seen coming together once the final whistle had blown at Sanchez Pizjuan, in an apparent show of unity for their Coach.

LJAJIC OUT FOR THE YEAR

Torino midfielder Adem Ljajic’s has suffered a thigh injury that will rule him out for the rest of 2017. The Serbian international came on for Mirko Valdifiori at half-time in the loss to Napoli, but picked up a muscular injury. Today the Granata have confirmed that Ljajic missed today’s training session with the rest of his team mates, with scans revealing “a strain to the right biceps femoris muscle”. Ljajic will be out of tomorrow’s Coppa Italia match with Roma. While further scans are planned for the coming days, Sky reports that the creative midfielder is likely to miss the games with Spal and Genoa, making his return in the new year.
