Torino President Urbano Cairo discloses he discussed Andrea Belotti’s €100m release clause with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez Rodríguez.

Belotti ended up staying at Torino last summer after no club met his €100m release clause and Cairo claims Madrid played a role in keeping him at the Granata.

According to Urbano “Belotti’s an exceptional guy and loved by everyone,”.

“He’s kept his feet on the ground and he’s humble, even he has a €100m release clause on his shoulders.

“He needs to stay calm, he said he didn’t think about it at the time of his renewal. He scored 13 goals either side of last season, with and without a clause.

“I went to dinner with Florentino Perez and talked to him about the renewal of players with huge clauses.

“I mentioned Belotti and he didn’t know him, but I talked about shielding him with a €100m release clause.

“Aware of his clause, his ears perked up. If it had been for €20m, they wouldn’t have.”

LJAJIC OUT FOR THE YEAR

Torino midfielder Adem Ljajic’s has suffered a thigh injury that will rule him out for the rest of 2017. The Serbian international came on for Mirko Valdifiori at half-time in the loss to Napoli, but picked up a muscular injury. Today the Granata have confirmed that Ljajic missed today’s training session with the rest of his team mates, with scans revealing “a strain to the right biceps femoris muscle”. Ljajic will be out of tomorrow’s Coppa Italia match with Roma. While further scans are planned for the coming days, Sky reports that the creative midfielder is likely to miss the games with Spal and Genoa, making his return in the new year.
