PEROTTI -ROMA WON’T GIVE UP FOR THE DEAD
Roma only need a point at Wanda Metropolitano
to book their place in the Champions League last 16, and they face an Atleti
side that have yet to win a group game and not scored more than once in a match
since September.
Diego Perotti assures
Roma “won’t give Atletico Madrid up for dead” on Wednesday night and says a new
contract would be a ‘reward’.
“We absolutely won’t give them up for dead,”
he said at a Press conference.
“We know what Atletico
are capable of, we know their path in the Champions League and the Finals
they’ve reached, the League they won at the expense of Barcelona, something
that was unthinkable until recently”.
“We know how Simeone
fires his team up and it’ll be difficult to face them, mainly because they’re
play at home, but we’re aware that we’ve picked up two good results out of
three.
“Penalties? It’s been
like this since I played for Sevilla. I didn’t learn my technique from anyone.
“I’ve worked on it so
much, and slowly I perfected my way of taking penalties. Only a goalkeeping
friend of mine at Sevilla gave me some advice.
“I’ve been training
with this method of taking penalties for nearly 10 years.
“From my first moment
here, they made me feel important and this was decisive. I’ve been striving to
improve and do the best I can.
“A new deal? It would
be a reward because I’m very happy here and I’d like to stay at Roma for a long
time. It would be the crowning of my rebirth in football.”
