JANA NOVOTNA GOES TO REST  AT AGE OF 49

Image result for Jana NovotnaThe Women's Tennis Association (WTA)said Novotna, who had cancer, "died peacefully, surrounded by her family".
The Czech player had lost in the Wimbledon final in 1993 and 1997 before winning the Grand Slam tournament when she beat Nathalie Tauziat in 1998.
Novotna captured the hearts of fans when she burst into tears after losing to German great Steffi Graf in 1993 and was consoled by the Duchess of Kent.
According to WTA chief executive Steve Simon, Jana was an inspiration both on and off court to anyone who had the opportunity to know her.
"Her star will always shine brightly in the history of the WTA. Our condolences and our thoughts are with Jana's family." Novotna was renowned for her serve and volley game and achieved a career-high singles ranking of number two.
In addition to her only singles Grand Slam win at Wimbledon, she claimed 12 Grand Slam doubles titles and four in mixed doubles.
She was also inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in 2005.

KALINIC TEASES INTER Nikola Kalinic has teased Inter faithfuls after joining arch-rivals Milan. “It was great to score three goals against them…” Kalinic netted a hat-trick against Inter during Fiorentina’s 4-1 win at San Siro in September 2015, and the new Milan striker vowed he would try to repeat those exploits in a Derby della Madonnina.  “It was great to score three goals against Inter. LJAJIC OUT FOR THE YEAR

Torino midfielder Adem Ljajic’s has suffered a thigh injury that will rule him out for the rest of 2017. The Serbian international came on for Mirko Valdifiori at half-time in the loss to Napoli, but picked up a muscular injury. Today the Granata have confirmed that Ljajic missed today’s training session with the rest of his team mates, with scans revealing “a strain to the right biceps femoris muscle”. Ljajic will be out of tomorrow’s Coppa Italia match with Roma. While further scans are planned for the coming days, Sky reports that the creative midfielder is likely to miss the games with Spal and Genoa, making his return in the new year.
